Dear Bloggy,
It's a year full of weddings. I'm indeed happy for most but, yet doubtful for some. I've friends getting married after knowing each other for less than half a year. One even booked wedding package after getting together for 2 months. How amazing is it, dude?
Recently, I knew this girl from my course and she has been with her BF for approximately 8 months. On the second month, the BF went ahead to book the wedding package already. Her parents-in-law went ahead to decide on their ROM and customary dates without consulting her or her parents. We reckon it could be because her BF's brother wanted to get married to and in the Chinese tradition, it's deemed that the older one should get married before the younger one. If it's really the case, how sad is it to rush through the biggest event of your life. Of course my friend wasn't happy with that, but she didn't voice out and accepted it. Although I'm in no position to comment about her life, not mentioning that I've hardly know her for 3 months but, I felt that it's not unjustifiable. I'll definitely go all out to fight for my rights, given this scenario.
Moreover, the BF seems ermmmmm, a little too obsessive. Okay, very obsessive, possessive, whatever you call it. There's a basis for my statement and it goes:
- He has to meet my friend everyday in the past, if not he'll get mad at her. Now he's staying over at her place.
- He'll be very unhappy when my friend talks to guys online whereby he'll talks with unknown girls online.
- He'll fake MC from his work, just to follow my friend for her gathering with her gal friends.
- He said that he will jump off the building if my friend were to ever leave him.
- He went ahead to book the wedding package after being together for 2 months. (As mentioned)
From an outsider point of view, he has been taking things for granted. When he stayed over my friend's place, he's sleeping on her bed and she'll sleeping on the floor with a mattress, mind you. And there was this incident that bothers me too much; as we were struggling with our assignments and tests for our module, my friend was so tired that she fall asleep on the bed. THAT guy accused my friend for occupying the bed for so long after she woke up! What crap is that?! AND GUESS WHAT?! MY FRIEND APOLOGIZED TO HIM?! My blood pressure shot sky high upon hearing it. It makes NO sense at all!! Just roll back to your bloody house or sleep in the bathroom, for god's sake.
When my friend asked me to be one of her sister during her customary, I was taken aback. I couldn't understand why she asked me. To my understanding, you'll find friends whom you're close with or your relatives. Until she told me that her friends don't like her BF, I understood. And now, I was truly enlightened. How could you see your friend undergo such treatment?! *faints* Hence, I rejected her request. Now that I think back, if I'm one of her sister, I'll only open the door after asking the guy to jump off the building and crawl up. I'm really not that kinda "sister" material for her, I think.
Seriously, looking at half of my kids coming from broken families, my heart goes out to them. I wonder how many people out there are really ready to set a family? Or are they just going with the flow? I don't know. I'll definitely not be one of them, that's for sure.
Signing off with love,
